Children’s Footwear… ‘Independent Retailer of the Year’ Winners!
We’re jumping for joy this morning after scooping our first ever Footwear Industry Award. It was just last night that we attended the glitzy black-tie awards ceremony, hosted at the National Conference Centre in Solihull.
Not only did we nab the ‘Children’s Independent Footwear Retailer’ award, we were also named ‘Highly Commended’ in two other categories; ‘Independent Family Footwear Retailer of the Year’ and ‘Fashion Independent Footwear Retailer of the Year.’ We were also nominated in the Men’s and Women’s Independent Retailer Categories, but sadly missed out on those… Oh well, there’s always next year!
With independent shops in dramatic decline, last year saw closures occurring at a disastrous rate – in fact, there were more independents closing down than opening up. This is the first time this has happened in the UK and hopefully the last.
40 years of hard work and local support
The Footwear Industry Awards do a brilliant job in helping to champion independent retailers, and show that with hard work and local support, success is still an option. Now in their fifth year, these awards recognise outstanding performance within the footwear industry, serving as an opportunity to promote the efforts of retailers. We’re delighted to have won for our efforts in kids’ shoes, after celebrating our 40th year trading in 2015 – yes, it really was back in 1975 that our flagship store in Stockport opened its doors!
This year, The Footwear Industry Awards were sponsored by some huge influencers, including Clarks, Moda Footwear, Out on a Limb and sponsors of our category, children’s footwear specialists pediped. The party was in full swing, as we caught up with some of these big-name brands, as well as a few fellow independent retailers. A fantastic evening was had by all, so thank you, The Footwear Industry Awards!
